CircleCI Pricing Overview

CircleCI offers a usage-based pricing model with a free tier for individual developers and small teams. Pricing is based on compute minutes consumed, with different resource classes (sizes) consuming credits at different rates.

Free Tier

The Free plan includes 6,000 build minutes per month (Linux), 1,000 minutes for Windows, and 1,000 minutes for macOS. It supports up to 3 users with 1 concurrent job. This is generous enough for many small projects and individual developers.

Performance Plan

The Performance plan starts at $15 per user per month (billed annually) and includes 15,000 credits per user. Credits are consumed based on resource class: 1 credit per minute for small, 2 for medium, 4 for medium+, 8 for large, and so on. Teams get unlimited concurrent jobs.

Scale Plan

The Scale plan at $2,000 per month includes 150,000 credits, self-hosted runner support, and dedicated account management. It is designed for larger teams with higher throughput requirements.

Credit Usage and Optimization

CircleCI charges credits per minute of build time, scaled by resource class. Docker layer caching can significantly reduce build times and credit consumption. Teams can optimize costs by right-sizing resource classes and using caching effectively.
